India registers highest COVID-19 daily deaths in country after state revises figures



On Thursday, India reported the highest number of COVID-19 casualties in a day in the world – 6,148, after a major eastern country revised its data to report people who succumbed to the disease at home or in private hospitals.

7;s poorest states, revised the total number of COVID-19-related deaths on Wednesday to more than 9,400 from about 5,400.

The United States registered 5,444 deaths from COVID-19 on February 12.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 29.2 million, having increased by 94,052 in the last 24 hours, while the total number of deaths is 359,676, according to the Ministry of Health.
