The Iowa Public Health Department reported 694 new positive COVID-19 cases and 26 additional deaths on Tuesday. At 10 a.m., the health department reported a total of 360,278 positive tests, a total of 310,884 recoveries and 5,400 deaths since the start of the pandemic. Twenty-four hours earlier, the health department reported a total of 359,584 cases and 5,374 deaths. Iowa’s 14-day positivity rate was 4.3% and the 7-day average was 4.2%. 3,975,909 tests for COVID-19 were conducted in the country. There are currently 227 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, down from 222 the day before. The state reported 58 patients in the intensive care unit and 25 patients on ventilators. Twenty of Iowa’s long-term care facilities report outbreaks of viruses. That’s less than 21 days earlier.
