iRobot has announced a pair of new mid-range vacuum cleaners that have some of the advantages of their high-end models, but also a few trade-offs. These are the $ 599 i3 Plus, which comes with an automatic automatic bin station that can hold 60 days of dirt, and the regular old $ 399 i3, which has no unloading station but is otherwise identical.
The big disadvantage of these vacuum cleaners compared to the more expensive iRobot models – i7 Plus and i7 ($ 799 / $ 599 with and without automatic emptying) and s9 Plus and s9 ($ 899 / $ 1,099, too) – is that they do not include the company̵
But the i3s get all the features that came with the company’s latest update using AI, which it calls “iRobot Genius Home Intelligence.” They are less useful, but still useful, with the iRobot app offering suggestions for cleaning schedules based on your past cleaning procedures and an option for intelligent home automation. So, if you use a location service like Life360 or have a smart lock, you can connect it to your Roomba so that it can start cleaning when you leave the house (if you leave the house a lot these days).
Hardware-wise, the design is fully consistent with other current iRobot models, while the cleaning system is the same as in the i7s. Both models are available in the US and Canada today and will hit international markets for some time in the first quarter of next year.
