It is reported that the Apple MacBook Pros 2021 will return the SD card slot

Apple may finally introduce an integrated SD card slot to its upcoming 2021 models on its MacBook Pro laptops, according to a new report from BloombergMark Gourmet, in a move that will restore the company’s popular port standard on computers.

The MacBook Pro line has not offered an SD card slot since Apple removed the feature in its 2016 redesign, which cut all ports from laptops in favor of four universal USB-C ports. This has forced many professional users – who rely on the popular memory card format to import photos and videos to their editing computers – to turn to many infamous keys to get the same functionality.

The news comes after an earlier report by Gurman, which initially detailed some of the changes Apple is planning for the upcoming 1

4-inch and 16-inch designs. These changes include removing the controversial Touch Bar interface in exchange for physical function keys; offering a more square design that is in line with the latest versions of the iPad Pro, iPad Air and iPhone 12; adding brighter displays; and returning Apple’s MagSafe magnetic chargers. This is all in addition to the biggest change, in which high-end laptops will move from Intel processors to a more powerful version of the internal Apple, based on ARM chipset M1.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo confirmed these reports, saying the new laptops will offer additional ports, but today marks the first confirmation of the SD card slot.

The news of the return of the SD card slot actually comes aside in a larger report on Apple’s planned refresh for the “high-end” MacBook Air, which is said to offer similar benefits to MagSafe and processors as the new MacBook Pros. Unfortunately, there is no mention of the SD card slot, which is available in the upcoming upgrade of Air – just a pair of USB-C ports.
