MILAN (Reuters) – A group of MPs from the Italian ruling coalition urge the government to ban Chinese company Huawei Technologies Co Ltd to supply equipment to put the country on the 5G mobile communications market, Il Messaggero newspaper reported on Friday.
Lega Party Leaders, who are running the 5-star anti-establishment movement, are planning to call on Rome to use its "golden powers" in the industrial veto to block Huawei, large telecom operators in Italy.
Huawei, the world's largest telecoms maker, is facing international control over its ties to the Chinese government and the suspicion that Beijing may use its espionage technology – something the company has denied.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo warned that the United States would not be able to cooperate or share information with countries that embrace Huawei's systems.
