JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Trade winds were blowing and they were felt in the Jets locker room on Sunday.
Defensive end Leonard Williams and wide receiver Robbie Anderson heard their names in trade rumors last week and the two may play their last games as Jets, with the trade deadline coming Tuesday at 4pm.
"Anderson said after completing four catches for 43 yards in a 29-15 loss to the Jaguars. "God forbid, this was my last jet game – it would be disappointing to go out like that." It was all about getting us to the top, to the Super Bowl. I hope I'm still here and I can continue to work on it. But I can't call it that. "
Anderson seems less likely to be traded by Williams. Both are scheduled to be free agents after the season and at 1
Williams is disappointed in his time with the Jets and the team has a depth on the defensive line if they decide to deal with him. A source said the Jets tell teams they have already received multiple-choice offers. It looks like they may just be waiting to see if they can get a better deal by Tuesday.
"Obviously, I thought about it," said Williams, who has zero sacks this season. "This is something that is being talked about, but at the same time I cannot let it interfere with my playing on the field." I cannot allow it to affect anything I can control. This is something that is out of my control and is happening a lot more now in this league and you see deals happen a lot more often. I'm trying to get my emotions out of it and let go of what's going on. "
FOX announces that the Giants may be interested in acquiring Williams.
