Imi Kimmel on Monday targeted Utah Republicans who expressed dissatisfaction with Sen. Mitt Romney at the state Republican Party’s congress on Saturday.
“I’ve never seen rude Mormon behavior before,” Kimmel joked.
Despite the uproar and jokes, the convention ultimately failed to accept a proposal to sentence Romney to a vote to convict former President Donald Trump during the impeachment process in early 2020.
Still, the reaction Romney received on stage from the Trumpers made him reaffirm his Republican powers.
“Oh yeah, you can whistle anything you like, but I’ve been a Republican all my life,”
At one point, the junior senator from Utah openly asked the crowd, “Aren’t you embarrassed?”
Kimmel then said, “No, they don’t worry. Like their leader, they are not ashamed. “
Not surprisingly, Trump, who now appears to everyone so often in Mar-a-Lago to tell lies about the election he lost, gave a happy response after catching the wind in Utah.
Honoring Romney’s critics, Trump said they were “among the earliest to understand [Romney] outside. He also called the former Republican presidential candidate a “losing cold loser.”
Trump’s response did not come in the form of a tweet, a Facebook post or a YouTube video, but rather a clearly formatted statement – the norm for him since he was deplanted after the deadly Capitol uprising in January.
“Thanks for the note, Donald,” Kimmel joked. “We’ll make sure to fax it to Mitt.”
“And why are the losers always ‘cold?’ “, Added the host late at night. “Should they be kept at a certain temperature like the vaccine or something?”
Kimmel then joined another video, which made the weekend tours of disgraced former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, as if he had forgotten the words of the Pledge of Allegiance, even after being punched by a boisterous crowd.
