JJ Watt said “the free agency is wild.” He does his best to become even wilder.
A seven-word tweet that Watt posted Tuesday morning sparked widespread speculation about the message he didn’t or didn’t send about his future.
“Mitochondria are the engine of the cell,” Watt said.
Some suggest that this means that Watt will join the accounts. Mitochondria, for example, has the same number of letters as Buffalo Accounts. (This seems like a stretch.) Then there is the fact that the Mitochondria Research Society is based in Buffalo. (This looks like less stretching.)
Fans of other teams participate. For example, in Mitochondria there is a “C”, which means that Watt is heading to Cleveland.
Nevertheless, the situation has provoked enough discussion that “mitochondria” are on trend.
Whatever the point, even if it doesn’t make any sense, it’s fun to wonder where Watt will go – and whether a team will make a firm offer before the 2021 salary cap is officially set.
Until then, Watt has to write in more amusing facts. As “the human head weighs eight pounds.”
