Senator Kamala Harris D-California laughed when asked in an interview Sunday whether she would stand for a “socialist or progressive perspective” if elected.
CBS news anchor Nora O’Donnell asked Harris during a 60-minute interview with her and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
Citing a 2019 ranking by the non-partisan organization GovTrack, O’Donnell told the vice president’s hope that she “is considered the most liberal senator in the United States.” She said Harris supported the Green New Deal, Medicare for All and the legalization of marijuana, all policies that Biden has not yet supported.

O’Donnell then asked if Harris would bring all these progressive policies into the Biden administration.
“What I will do, and I promise you this, and this is what Joe wants me to do, this was part of our deal, I will always share my experience with him, as it is related to every problem we face. Harris said.
Harris was then asked if this was a socialist or progressive perspective, which made her stop for a moment before cracking.
“No. No,” she said as she laughed. “This is the prospect of – a grown woman – a black child in America who was also a prosecutor, who also has a mother who came here at the age of 19 from India. Who also, you know, l– loves hip-hop. “

“Like, what do you want to know?” she continued.
O’Donnell asked the question after President Trump had previously accused Biden of being a “Trojan horse” to push socialist politics “off the left wing of the Democratic Party.”
“I will not limit myself to Donald Trump’s definition of who I am or anyone else,” Harris added. “And I think America has learned that this would be a mistake.”
