Kansas City QB chief Patrick Mohames, still in concussion protocol, back in training on Friday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Patrick Mahomes was with the Kansas City bosses when they started the training session on Friday, their last before the AFC Championship match on Sunday against Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium

His participation on Friday seems to put Mahomes on track to play on Sunday. Boss coach Andy Reed said Mohmes took all the photos of Wednesday’s practice and most of it on Thursday.

Reed said Mohmes remained on the concussion report and had gone through every step in the protocol except one, which was authorized by an independent neurological consultant and chief physician.

Mohomez was knocked out of last week̵

7;s playoff victory over Browns with concussion symptoms after being tackled hard in a running game.

Three other key Chiefs players battling injuries also attended the start of training on Friday: wide receiver Sami Watkins (calf), running back Clyde Edwards-Heller (thigh, ankle) and cornerback Basho Briland (concussion, shoulder) ).

Coach Sean McDermott said the bills are being prepared for a Mahomes game.

“I guess at the beginning of the week we weren’t quite sure and we really wouldn’t know, I guess,” McDermott said. “It’s probably on trend in that direction, so we’re expecting that.”
