Kevin Durant comes off the bench for the Nets, has a perfect shooting night in exchange for a lower leg injury

Earlier this week, the Brooklyn Nets announced that James Harden would be absent for at least 10 days due to a lower leg injury. The good news was that their other MVP, Kevin Durant, was about to return from his own hamstring problem. And on Wednesday night, with the Nets’ dominant 139-111 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, Durant returned to the squad for the first time since Feb. 13.

It took him a while to actually get on the court, while the Nets pulled him out of the starting lineup minutes before giving a tip. When he wasn’t in the game by the middle of the second quarter, there were a lot of questions about what was going on, but he eventually registered and continued almost exactly where he left off.

Playing 1

9 minutes off the bench – it was only the second time in his career that he had not started a game – Durant finished with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists in a perfect 5 out of 5 from the field. He also had six turnovers, but that’s not super surprising, considering he hasn’t played in a game in nearly two months.

Postgame, Nets head coach Steve Nash explained that they took Durant off the bench so they could play him if the game was close.

“We just thought it was an opportunity to give him a chance to play in the second half,” Nash said. “Or if the game was too narrow to play below. That way we could manage his minutes and his minute limits in a way that would allow him to influence the game if it’s close. Really not much. more to her, really. “

In the end, this was not a problem, as Durant and Co. did an easy job for the Pelicans. As it turns out, when the team with the second best offense in the league (Brooklyn) plays the team with the third worst defense in the league (New Orleans), it usually doesn’t go well for the latter.

Durant did almost anything he wanted and faced very little resistance from the Pelicans. To be honest, they’re shorthand, but that doesn’t really explain plays like this, where Duran just dribbles along the entire length of the floor in a straight line and makes a row.

Overall, it wasn’t the most exciting game, but it was great to see Durant healthy and back in action. The next step is for the Webs to heal all three of their stars so that we can finally see them in action for a long time.
