Kidde recalls more than 200,000 smoke alarms due to the impossibility of warning of a fire



The company and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission identified seven affected models on Thursday, advising customers with these devices to contact Kidde for a free replacement alarm.

The downloaded models are: Kidde Model Series 2040, 2050, 2060 and 2070 smoke and combined smoke / carbon monoxide alarms. The alarms were sold primarily at Walmart, The Home Depot, Amazon.com and Menards from May 2019 to September 2020.

Many recalled devices will have a TruSense logo or “AMBER = FAULT” printed on the front, according to the Kidde website.

No injuries or incidents related to the alarms have been reported so far, according to the Commission̵

Users with affected models can contact Kidde for a replacement registration online or on 844-796-9972 from 8:00 to 20:00 ET from Monday to Friday and from 9:00 to 15:00 ET on Saturday.
