Kirby Smart is approaching Steve Spurry's territory

JACKSONVILLE, Flag. “One thing Steve Spurrier said he liked about Kirby Smart is that he wears a visor, but the Georgia coach may soon have more to do with the Florida legend.

Smart has transformed the Bulldogs into a powerful football machine on the verge of its third straight SEC East Division title. This is a feat that has not been accomplished since Spurrier ran the Fun N 'Gun in Gainesville (1994-96).

And Smart does it his way, with a jumbo offensive line, a professional quarterback and a tightly wound defense that tops the SEC in almost every major statistical category.

Smart is 1

9-4 against opponents of the Eastern Division in his four years leading Georgia. That includes wins in 17 of the last 18, dating back to the end of the 2016 season.

Spurrier didn't win his national championship until his 10th year as head coach and seventh in Florida at the age of 51. [19659002] The entrance to Georgia football returns after a strong 24-17 victory over Florida, a game the Bulldogs control from start to finish.

It's worth noting, the 43-year-old Smart improves to 7-3 against the Top 10 teams.

Smart and his players focused on blocking so-called "outside noise," but were clearly aware of the second assumptions and doubts after the October 20-17 OT upset loss to South Carolina on Oct. 12, and a vicious 21- 0 over Kentucky.

Smart, to its credit, uses public doubt to bring their team together and bring them closer together, players respond with a stronger focus and more commitment to one another.

It was a moment of disruption or disruption to Smart and its program built d by introducing its four-year term, stifling the Florida team boasting its highest ranking since 2012, and affirming the style of football intended neutralize widespread attacks occurring across the country.

Georgia still has challenges. Next up was a home game against Missouri, then in Auburn, then a home game against Texas A&M before closing at Georgia Tech.

But winning in Florida can be a turning point in a season that seeks to drop expectations.

Here are three takeaways:

Jake Fromm returns to form

Fromm effective 20-of-30, 2-touch, 279-yard passing performance was in line with what Georgia Fans they've been expecting a veteran of 37 games in the last three seasons.

But Fromm showed another element of his game with his scandals, escaping his pocket and potential sacks three times to win 12 yards. The presence of the pocket was certainly noted by NFL scouts, but more importantly, it kept Georgia in positive distance and distance situations on the day they controlled the clock.

Fromm for third downs was 10 of 12 passes for 119 yards and a TD, making the first drop in 9 of those 12 attempts. Georgia converted 12 of 18 third downs that day.

Championship Defense

The Most Important Era of Sports Does Not Allow Healthy Defense Givens to Get Much Love or Recognition, a fact proven by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee that took Oklahoma last season and the defense's lack of attention of UGA received entry into the game.

But people noticed Florida, with offensive guru Dan Mullan training from the sideline, showing only 3 points, negative rushing and about 175 yards through three

Bulldogs who softened their scheme after taking a 24-10 lead with For 10 minutes in the fourth quarter, they continue to lead the SEC in total defense, scoring defense and putting in defense until they rank second in efficiency defense.

Powerful Football

There is something about imposing the will of an opponent that all ex-athletes in the sport can relate to. It is a reinforcing feeling that translates into future competition while restoring motivation.

The 25 nights of Andre Swift for 86 yards do not look impressive until one finds that he has encountered several fronts of 8 people and most importantly is converted every short

, Georgia's ability to run – while stopping running – led the Bulldogs to launch 67 offensive plays to Florida 52, controlling the clock 35:48 to 24:12.

The UGA offensive line was impressive enough to keep Florida out of the backfield, but Swift needed to show the vision, power and decision-making to cover third and 1 on three different occasions – in the first quarter and twice on the same device in the fourth quarter.

Fromm and the receiver had a wonderful day, but Swift was just as impressive with his hard work, including a 30-yard outburst of traffic that was consistent with what he would have to do to make a living in the NFL. [19659029] Georgia football DawgNation
