BREAKING : It's unfolding in real time. Kurt Sutter formally ceased his involvement in Sons of Anarchy Spinoff Maya MS, and on this subject his long residence in FX.
It seems that he is continuing his entire deal on 20th Century FoxTV, now part of Disney TV, sent an email from Sutter to the cast and crew that he was fired from the show he created and executive produced. Studios, where he has been for the past 15 years, first worked on FX Shield before creating Sons of Anarchy, The Bastard Executioner and then Mayans MC – everyone in FX. That sounds like a weird move, and we'll tell you more when we know it.
Obviously, there was some kind of inflammatory activity ̵
Kurt Sutter hands over the reins of Maya MC to co-creator Elgin James, but the creator of Sons of Anarchy does not go out
Sutter makes it clear that he is giving James the reins.
He told fans during the Mayans MC Season 2 premiere at the Arclight Hollywood Cinerama Dome that he would take a step back to allow James and the creative team they built to establish themselves, and he didn't want a white man at the helm of a drama about life at a latin motto club. At the time, Sutter stated that he was not leaving the Spinoff show Sons Of Anarchy, which was the consequence. This is no longer the case.
Here's what Sutter says at the time:
"I got here last year and shared my intentions for what I wanted for the Mayans MC. It was my job to honor the historical legacy of SOA and lead the transition to the new Mayan mythology.
And with the help of an amazing cast and crew, I have the feeling that I was able to do it … By the end of this season, the narrative arcs we've cast in Charm will find their conclusion in Santo Padre. And EZ Reyes will find himself in a new, unexpected truth. His legs are firmly planted. Although standing in a huge puddle of fucking blood.
So, as promised, the white man must leave the building. If we are lucky enough to have Season 3, I will step back as a daily showrunner and hand over the reins to my talented and passionate partner, Elgin James.
I will still be involved in production capacity, but I am really aware that for this show to establish its own unique mythology, which, in my opinion, may be more powerful and relevant than Sons, it must be guided by a fresh voice. A voice of color, a voice still haunted by struggle. And that voice belongs to Elgin James. ”
