After their genuinely shocking signing of the sixth man of the year and former Clippers striker Montresle Harel, it would be fair to assume that the Lakers have finished spraying the NBA’s free agency. But according to the latest rumors about the Lakers trade, general manager Rob Pelinka is not ready to try to light fireworks.
In the middle of the night, Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer confirmed earlier reports that the Lakers were indeed going after the Sacramento Kings had restricted free agent Bogdan Bogdanovic and were exploring potential signs and deals:
In January, I announced that the Lakers had trade talks with the kings, who offered Nemanja Belica and the Lakers̵7; choice for Kyle Kuzma, and Los Angeles countered by asking Bogdan Bogdanovic. The persecution of Los Angeles has not stopped. In Friday, The athleteSam Amick and Eric Nem announced that the Lakers continue to sign and trade for Bogdanovic, who is signing and trading with Bucks. League sources confirmed the report: The Lakers are indeed pursuing Bogdanovic, although the Hawks are considered favorites.
The Kings may not have wanted to trade Bogdanovic with the Lakers before the deadline, but they don’t have much choice now. The alternative is to lose it to the Hawks (or another team with limited space, such as the Knicks), to a list of offers that is more than they would like to spend, say sources from many leagues. Of course, Kings could corresponds to each offer sheet he receives. But they just raised a guard at Tyrese Haliburton, gave $ 163 million to De’Aaron Fox, and still have a disgruntled Buddy Hild. Maybe, just maybe, the kings would be better off taking KCP and Kuzma, even if it means helping their interstate rivals improve.
Now, as with all leaks, there may be motivation behind it. The Lakers have long been used as a scam around the league and that could to be an attempt to send a shot through the Noses of the Hawks to get them to really lower the offer list for Bogdanovic to prevent him from trying to reach the Lakers. (It is also worth noting that there have already been reports that Bogdanovic is expected to sign a bid list with the Hawks, but still nothing super specific).
But the Lakers’ interest in Bogdanovic is also apparently very real at the moment, and after Pelinka and Co. shocked the world (and reportedly Clippers) by putting Harel at a mid-level exception, we really can’t run them out for any free agent – even limited as Bogdanovich – until they put a pen on paper. In the case of Bogdanovic, this is twofold, because at this point we should not believe that he is really going anywhere until he actually does.
And as my colleague Christian Rivas pointed out, there is reason to believe that the Lakers can lead the signing and trading proposal that the Kings have previously agreed to with Bucks, because their coach loves Kyle Kuzma:
It is no secret that Kuzma had his best years under the leadership of Luke Walton, who is currently the head coach of the Kings. It is no secret that they have mutual respect for each other. Kuzma was one of the first players to thank Walton when the Lakers broke up with him last year.
We also have an idea of what type of packages the Kings would accept for Bogdanovich. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bucks planned to send Donte DiVincenzo, Ersan Ilyasova and DJ Wilson to the Kings in exchange for Bogdanovic. The Kuzma and JaVale McGee package is much worse than that? And if so, could they extend it to a trademark that includes Kentavid Caldwell-Papa and Nemanja Belitsa? Its possible.
Would Bogdanovic be the final upgrade to Caldwell-Pope, given what the Lakers need? He will probably be downgraded in defense, but he has a reputation as a better scorer – although he shot worse than three (37.2%) of Caldwell-Pope (38.5%) last season – which will follow the model (together). with Harel and Dennis Schroeder) from the Lakers, who are working to improve their crime on paper this season.
With Dennis Schroeder (18.9) and Montresle Harel (18.6), the Lakers have the top 2 goal scorers from last season. According to Elias, the Lakers are the 2nd team with the best 2 goal scorers from the previous season. The 01-02 Suns had Rodney Rodgers and Tony Delk. Appetizers were first traced in 1970-71.

This, too, may not only be related to the choice between Caldwell-Pope and Bogdanovic, given the way negotiations with the former are currently going:
Sources: Both the Lakers and free agent keeper Kentavid Caldwell-Pope are interested in making a deal, but now it’s a numbers game. KCP is seeking a $ 8.4 million increase, which it has given up.

The Lakers need to make sure they strengthen their guard depth, and if Caldwell-Pope wants a payday and Bogdanovich just wants to be a Laker, that may not be a real choice, and the Lakers may just have to get the man who wants Buddy here.
Maybe Caldwell-Pope is back and maybe not, but until something is accepted, the Lakers must explore all their possibilities. The good news is that by sniffing around Bogdanovic, they seem to be doing just that. Such due diligence and devising alternative plans is all the team hopes to rebuild for repetition.
