Although it is not just a night over Papua New Guinea, now much of the volcano is likely to be fragmented into the darkness caused by ash from the eruption.

It is unclear whether the activity of the volcano is still ongoing or has ceased or is over. However, ash ash was divided into two large parts of winds blowing in different directions at different heights:

– the highest part of 63,000 feet (20 km, flight level 630) is quickly exported to the east and is already more than 500 km away from the volcano.

– The "lower" part of the track, at an altitude of 55,000 feet (17 km, flight level 550), is spreading and moving slower to the south.

The aviation color code is red and all aircraft must avoid the affected areas at a great distance (see the attached last estimate of the ash cloud issued by VAAC Darwin)
