Latin singer Jose Jose died after a battle with cancer.
The Mexican cultural icon – known as "El Principe de la Cancion", also known as "The Prince of Song" – died Saturday, according to his assistant Laura Nunez . He is reported to have died at a South Florida hospital – and although the cause of death has not been announced … he has been known to be battling pancreatic cancer … a diagnosis he published in 2017
video , published in March of that year, Jose Jose told fans that he was ready to take on this new adventure, reassuring them that he would fight the disease.
Jose Jose was a rock star in the 70's and 80's, picking up records like "El Triste", "El Amar y el Querer", "Almohada", "Vamos a Darnos Tiempo" and tons of other people throughout his career over 60 years. He received two awards for overall achievement – in 2004 and 2013, respectively – and the Latin American Academy of Sound Recording of the Year award in 05.
He was also nominated for several Grammy awards over the years. , but he was never quite capable of much reward. He did, however, have a bunch of hits that land on the Billboard Chart chart.
Jose Jose has 20 hits with hot Latin songs, four of them reach number 1 – and he even has 15 of his albums on the Top Latin Albums chart. He has sold over 1.8 million albums in the US to Nielsen Music … not to mention millions and millions more worldwide.
Several of his albums have turned out to be gold and platinum many times in different countries in Latin America.  The man also had a small acting career, having participated in films and shows such as "Sabor a mi", "Un sueno de amor", "Perdoname todo", "The Prettiest Ggly Girl" and others. He even lived out his life story in a 2018 television series based on his memoirs.
He survived by his wife of 24 years, Sarah and their 6 children. Jose Jose is 71.
