Leaders reported 289 new cases of COVID-19, 16 new deaths

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolf briefed the community on the local response to COVID-19 in their daily briefing Sunday night.

Nirenberg reported a total of 160,026 cases of COVID-19 and a total of 1,967 deaths in Bexar County, an increase of 289 new cases as of Sunday. Today, 16 new deaths were reported.

The case numbers for today were significantly lower than in the last few weeks; However, Nirenberg said that this was probably the result of a delay in obtaining test results from the state.

City officials also said 1

,381 patients were hospitalized, 407 were in intensive care and 251 were ventilators. 14% beds with staff and 52% fans are available.

There have been 138 hospital admissions in the last 24 hours, Nirenberg said.
