While the Los Angeles Lakers managed to take an important victory against the Denver Nuggets on Monday night, the focus still remains on LeBron James̵

7; health, as he was removed from this game with a sore ankle that just made him to miss 20 games. James has not played against the Nuggets and will play in the next two games in Los Angeles against the Clippers on Thursday night and against the Blazers on Friday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

In his second game after a long absence, James was forced to face the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night after suffering a sore right ankle. The Lakers were eliminated in both games in which James played after returning to the game, and with only seven games left in the schedule, each loss becomes more important for positioning in the playoffs. Los Angeles currently holds half a game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks for fifth place in the West, and they are one game ahead of the Blazers, who are in seventh place.

With LeBron’s status unknown in advance, he is putting more pressure on a Lakers team trying to avoid a tournament that includes teams ranked seventh to tenth to finalize the final two playoff places in each conference. James has already expressed his dislike for the tournament after losing Sunday night, saying that whoever came up with the idea should be fired. “It’s a breakthrough,” James said of the tournament. “You have to win your place to be in the post-season period. There is no consolation for the final finish. It’s profitable.” James may not like the tournament, but having to play in it is a real opportunity for the Lakers now.

In addition to the absence of LeBron for at least a few more games ahead, the Lakers will also not have defender Dennis Schroeder, who has been suspended for 10-14 days due to health and safety protocols in the league. Schroeder kept the Lakers afloat during the absences of James and Anthony Davis, and with him until the potential season, that would mean the Lakers would need more than other role-players on the team. How the Lakers will cope in their upcoming game of games will contribute a lot to determining where they will finish in the picture after the season and now they will not have their best player for at least a couple of them.
