Lil Nas X turned to Twitter on Saturday to applaud people criticizing his costume for Halloween in 2020, a tribute to Nicki Minaj.
The singer from “Old Town Road” dressed in an intricate glide like the iconic rapper for the holiday. The costume was a replica of the outfit Minaj wore in the music video for her 2011 hit song “Super Bass.” His look included a neon pink bodysuit that was fastened to the waist, and a white blonde wig with pink accents and bangs.

But not everyone was a fan of the spot suit. One man wrote, “How much money do you think Lil nas x is paid to destroy the minds of young black children to go against their God?”
Lil Nas X quickly responded to the homophobic comment by writing, “yes, because your child will say” lil nas x dressed as Nicki Minaj, so why worship God anymore. “
The original comment has since been deleted or downloaded from Twitter.
This was not the only commentator who seemed dissatisfied with the 21-year-old’s clothing on social media. The rapper 50 Cent tweeted, “what is it, Nikki come get it !!! Lol.”
Last June, at the end of the LGBTQ Pride Month, Lil Nas X came out gay. The singer, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, asked his followers to listen to one of his new songs at the time, “c7osure”, in which he hinted at his sexuality.
He also tweeted a message that included rainbow emoticons. “Some of you already know, some of you are not interested, some of you are no longer gone (f — with me). but before this month is over, i want everyone to listen closely to c7osure. “
Before succeeding in music, Lil Nas X reported that he had a lot of followers as a super fan of Minaj, belonging to her fan base “barbz”. But before it came out, he denied launching a @nasmaraj fan account for fear of being shut down, according to Insider. He admitted last summer that he was a member of her favorite fan base, saying he had previously denied it because: “I didn’t want people to know I was gay, to be honest.”
“It was a bit of a sting when you denied being a thorn, but I understand,” Minai replied, adding, “Congratulations on building your confidence to tell your truth.”
So far, Minaj has not responded to his suit.
