A surprising move was released one of NFL's most productive receiving backs.
Lions announced today that they cut Theo Riddick. They signed Mike Daniels, a defense liner, and he will take Riddick's place.
It's unclear why Lions cut Riddick, who is the only one returned to NFL with at least 300 yards in each of the last five seasons.
The Lion's coach Matt Patricia, who made the announcement, refused to say why they cut Riddick apart from pointing out that Riddick did not do anything wrong. "We have all the respect in the world for what's over," Patricia said.
The lions said they wanted to run their backs to run between the gadgets and Riddick might not be appropriate for their offense this season. However, Riddick can make a contribution to the passing game and probably will not be out of work for a long time
