Biden will use the Pittsburgh speech to deal with the protests and violence
Biden makes a hastily scheduled trip to Pittsburgh on Monday afternoon to offer remarks on “whether voters feel safe in Donald Trump’s America” as Trump tries to rethink the 2020 race as a “law and order”
; election amid ” riots over racial injustice that has become violent recently.
“I condemn violence of any kind from everyone, whether from the left or the right. And I challenge Donald Trump to do the same, “Biden said in a statement Sunday, responding to the violence that has been fatal in Portland, Oregon.” The president’s job is to lower the temperature. “
In a speech Monday, Biden will also “offer a different vision for a better future,” according to his campaign.
Trump is taking advantage of social justice protests as a wedge of the campaign, trying to tie Biden to “radical” elements on the left. Both he and Biden are moving to deal with the protests and violence in a more visible way this week.
Trump will travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin on Tuesday, where a police shooting left black-clad Jacob Blake paralyzed and provoked street protests that ended in the deaths of two others. Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old white man who illegally acquired a rifle, has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder in murders that occurred after a young police group posted a call for weapons on Facebook.
In tweets late Sunday, Trump mocked Biden ahead of his planned remarks Monday.
“When will Slow Joe Biden criticize ANTIFA anarchists, thugs and agitators?” Trump wrote. “When will he propose the erection of the National Guard in the CITY RUNNING and crime-infected democratic cities and states?” Remember, he can’t lose the voice of Crazy Bernie’s Super Liberals! “
Biden’s trip to Pennsylvania – a key state on the battlefield – comes as his campaign promises a more stable trip planned in the final leg of the race. Trump transferred Pennsylvania to Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016.
