London-bound plane diverted to Boston over 'dirty sock smell'



American Airlines said a report of a possible odor in the cabin has diverted and a London-bound flight to Boston on Sunday.A statement from the airline said the Airbus A330-300 with 154 passengers and a crew of 12 landed in Boston at 11: 48 pm, around 1 ½ hours after taking off from Philadelphia. The plane was bound to London's Heathrow airport. "We have a problem with a smell on the airplane," said the pilot in a radio transmission. "Everything's A-OK, we call it a dirty sock smell." With that being said, we need to turn this airplane around. "The airline said no passengers had complained of illness. A maintenance team was reviewing the issue after the plane arrived at a gate. Some of the crew members were taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
