At least one Marine was killed Thursday and eight other members of the service went missing early Friday after the bombing off the coast of Southern California, the Marine Expeditionary Force confirmed Friday morning.
Two other members of the service were injured in the incident, officials said in a Twitter message.

The Navy and the Coast Guard are conducting a joint search and rescue operation for the missing members of the service, all of whom have been assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Pendleton Camp near San Diego.
