Mexico City’s railroad overpass collapsed, killing 13 and injuring 70

Thirteen people were killed and 70 injured when an overpass carrying Mexico City subway cars partially collapsed on a road Monday night, authorities said.

A video on local Milenio TV shows the overpass collapsing on top of cars on the road below.

The incident left a preliminary death of 13 dead and 70 injured, according to the city’s Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection Agency.

Mexico City Mayor Claudia Scheinbaum traveled to the scene and said on Twitter that “firefighters, public safety personnel are working. Various hospitals are present. We will provide more information soon.”

Other videos on television and social media showed emergency medical services and firefighters scraping the remains in search of survivors.
