“We recognize the critical role that visitors – family and friends – play in the well-being of our patients. However, because the spread of COVID-19 reaches record levels in the state, we must minimize the risk of transmission, “said Laraine Washer, medical director of prevention and epidemiology at Michigan Medicine.
“Our main priority is the safety of our patients and our staff. We hope that by adding these restrictions, we will better protect everyone from COVID-19, ”Shire continued. “We must continue to keep our Michigan facilities safe for all our patients.”
Since the pandemic began in March, Michigan Medicine has taken steps to ensure the safety of staff and patients, including screening patients for symptoms, cleaning and disinfecting equipment, moving furniture to meet social distances, and following the latest guidelines to minimize infections.
“Many people in our establishments are very ill or have a weakened immune system, which puts them at higher risk,” Washer said in a statement. . “
