Today, Microsoft is repairing its calling features in Microsoft Teams. The new call interface will now display contacts, voicemail and call history in one place. It is designed to make it easier for Microsoft Teams to replace your desktop phone, with built-in spam protection, reverse number lookup, and call pooling.
Microsoft Teams users will also soon be able to transfer calls between mobile devices and desktops, allowing people to quickly move locations in the middle of an audio or video call. The Teams app will allow people to join without audio on an additional device or simply transfer the call and end it automatically on other devices. Microsoft says this particular feature will be available in early 2021
People who regularly book appointments with Microsoft Teams will also see some new options. You’ll be able to record appointments in SharePoint or OneDrive, providing more flexibility than being limited to Microsoft’s Stream service. This will also make it easier to share calls or transcripts with people outside of Teams.
Finally, Microsoft also provides CarPlay support to Microsoft teams. This will allow vehicles with built-in CarPlay to control teams and people to use Siri to initiate or answer calls. It is unclear when the Microsoft team will support Android Auto in the future.
