Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss gets a new set of teeth and celebrates 230 days of sobriety

Former child actor Sean Weiss is working hard to recover from drug abuse after a difficult time and recently celebrated his 230th day of sobriety.

The 42-year-old Mighty Ducks star also had a new upper row of permanent teeth installed after numerous oral surgeries done to repair damage to his mouth from years of meth use.

His friend Drew Gallagher shared an update on his status on his GoFundMe page on Tuesday, along with a photo of Sean looking better than he had in years as he flashed a bright smile.

“They installed his permanent tops,” Gallagher wrote. “Approaching the whole face of the teeth.”

In the photo, Weiss smiled from ear to ear with his new teeth, showing a healthy, round face and a short beard.

At the time the photo was taken, Weiss was celebrating more than 230 days of sobriety after years of methamphetamine and other drug abuse.

The Mighty Ducks actor has been making steady improvements since his first search for a treatment for meth addiction.

“They installed his permanent tops,” his friend Drew Gallagher wrote on the page. “Approaching the whole face of the teeth.”

During his recovery, a friend and supporter, Drew, shared various updates about his condition and revealed last month that despite the long road ahead, Sean is doing better than ever.

“Weiss is thriving,” he wrote. “His face and mouth feel like ‘tender flesh’ as he recovers from any oral surgery, but he feels blessed to have a new set of permanent teeth.”

The astronomical costs of the dental work are generously covered by his dentist, Dr. Gabe.

“Dr. Gabe has covered all costs and Sean has been allowed to use gofundme’s funds to pay rent for his sober life, as well as to buy some groceries,” Drew wrote in a summer update.

He added: “He even has a cheap laptop to access the internet. There is still a long way to go, but it is growing every week! ‘

As of September, the site has raised more than $ 13,000 in donations for the suffering child star.

Drew also posted photos of Sean throughout the process, providing visual evidence of his improvements, which went from slender and painful to smiling and healthy.

When he started the donation page, the biggest obstacle in his recovery was the search for adequate dental care, which fortunately appeared.

“Dr. Gabe has covered all costs and Sean has been allowed to use gofundme’s funds to pay rent for his sober life, as well as to buy some groceries,” Drew wrote in a summer update.

“Every dentist who wants to help Weiss is our biggest need right now,” Drew wrote in June, describing his serious condition. “He has no teeth and that’s an additional discomfort I’m trying to alleviate.”

According to the American Dental Association, the use of methamphetamine can lead to severe caries and lead to broken or tooth loss.

While the drug is acidic and can wear out tooth enamel, meth can also cause spells for dry mouth, which increases the likelihood of caries, and the psychological effects of meth can make users go without regular brushing or proper dental care.

The actor, who plays Goldberg in the Disney movies “People”, “Mighty Ducks”, lived on the streets and became a crime.

In a brief photo of a theft arrest in January, Sean looked shockingly irritated and devastated after years of drug use.

Weiss finally received the help he desperately needed after being released from prison and ordered by Yuba County, California, to complete a 90-day rehabilitation program after a week of detoxification at a center in Orange County, California.

Sources then said the plan was for the Montvale, New Jersey-born man to complete an outpatient program and participate in a sober home program until he was allowed to stay in a sober home.

Weiss was arrested Jan. 26 in connection with a home theft and was under the influence of a target, and was held on $ 52,500 bail, the Marysville Police Department said in a statement.

Police said a resident of Marysville, California, a community about 125 miles northwest of San Francisco, contacted them after finding Weiss at their property.

The actor has been plagued by drugs and legal issues for the past few years as he was also arrested in connection with a public intoxication in August 2018 in Oroville, California. He was also arrested for theft in December 201.
