The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating allegations by right-wing project activist group Project Veritas that individuals linked to Republican Ilhan Omar, Minnesota, were involved in illegal ballot collecting before the election.
“We are in the process of examining the validity of these statements,” the department said in a statement on Monday. “No additional information is currently available.”
The latest video from Project Veritas highlighted social media, as it came out just weeks before the presidential election, which is expected to increase in the absence or voting by mail. In Minnesota, the issue is under judicial scrutiny as Republicans and Democrats fight for a measure that will limit the number of ballots a third country can hold for others.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the state Supreme Court recently allowed three people to vote unlimited on the number of ballots each person can collect.
President Trump has already called on the Justice Department to investigate claims that include allegations of a voting money scheme.
“It’s completely illegal,” Trump said Sunday, citing an article on the issue. “I hope the American prosecutor in Minnesota has this, as well as many of her many crimes, under serious scrutiny ??? If not, why not ??? We will win Minnesota because of her and law enforcement. Save Minneapolis and Iron O Range!” “
Omar responded Monday by mocking Trump over a New York Times report that said he paid $ 750 in income tax in 2016.
PV claims that community leader Omar Jarmal has signaled the alleged corruption of the congresswoman in Minnesota.
“It’s an open secret,” he said. “she [Omar] will do everything it can to be elected and there are hundreds of people on the streets doing it. “
The investigation aims to show a ballot collector who claims to have received money to receive ballots. He also highlights an alleged combine that boasts the number of ballots it has collected for a local employee.
Project Veritas also claims to have spoken to a former campaign official who said Omar’s team had paid voters for ballots.

According to Newsweek, Omar’s senior communications director, Jeremy Slevin, described the investigation as an attempt to delegitimize the election.
“The amount of truth in this story is equal to the amount Donald Trump has paid for taxes in the last ten years: zero. And the intensification of a coordinated right-wing campaign to delegitimize free and fair elections this fall is undermining our democracy,” he said.
