KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The new legislation in Missouri limits the amount and types of opioid pain medications that dentists can prescribe. 10 regular Vicodin pills a day and say they should not prescribe prolonged-release opioids such as OxyContin. Age between 16 and 25, whose first opioids are prescribed by a dentist, is about 10 times more likely to be diagnosed with opiate abuse within one year.
