Washington – The investigation by special attorney Robert Muller is "near completion," General Prosecutor General Matthew Whittaker said on Monday. Speaking at his first press conference sincein November 2018, Whitaker also said he was "fully informed" of the investigation into Muller.
"You know, the investigation is right now, and I hope we can get the report from Director Müller as soon as possible," Whitaker said.
A spokesman for the special lawyer's office refused to comment on Whittaker's remarks.

Whitaker watches Muller's probe as head of the Ministry of Justice. His predecessor Jeff Sciencefrom the March 2017 investigation into questions about his own contacts with the Russian ambassador during the 2016 campaign
When Whitaker became a general attorney general, he faced enormous pressure by the Democratic MPs to give up his involvement in Muller's work because of his comments on the investigation as a private gra in 1917, opinions and interviews, Whitaker argued that the investigation should be limited in scope,claiming his budget had to be reduced "so low that his investigation would become almost stop ".
"The statements I made were like a private citizen only with publicly available information," Whitaker said. "And, you know, I am comfortable that the decisions that have been taken will be reconsidered, you know, through the various means we have."
President Trump described William Bar as a permanent replacement for Whittaker. Barr was a general attorney during the first Bush administration and held his hearings in the Senate earlier this monththat it was "vital" Mueller's work to come to its conclusion.
