The Malaysian prime minister said Muslims had “the right to get angry and kill millions of French people” just hours after an attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar!” beheaded a woman and killed two others in a church in France.
The inflammatory comments were part of a Twitter storm by Dr. Mahathir Mohammad, who denied Western culture and French President Emmanuel Macron for refusing to denounce the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, which sparked three attacks in two months in France.
Macron also vowed to fight “Islamist separatism” after the beheading of teacher Samuel Patti in a Paris suburb on October 16th.
“Macron does not show that he is civilized. He is very primitive in accusing the religion of Islam and Muslims of killing the insulting teacher at school. This is not in line with the teachings of Islam, “Mohammad tweeted.
“But regardless of religion, angry people kill. The French have killed millions in the course of their history. Many were Muslims.
“Muslims have the right to be angry and kill millions of French people for massacres in the past.”
Mohammad also said that the “West” should not impose its views and values on others.
“This is the imprisonment of these people,” he wrote.
Malaysia is home to more than 32 million people, 61 percent of whom practice Islam.
Mohammad’s comments come after the third attack France has seen in two months, in which three people died in the Basilica of Notre Dame in Nice. The alleged knife attacker is with the police.
Mayor Christian Estrozi called the attacker a “terrorist” who shouted “Allahu Akbar!” – Arabic for “God is great” – many times when police arrested him.
