On Thursday, Myanmar’s military junta formally accused detained civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other officials of corruption, the country’s information ministry said.
“The Anti-Corruption Commission has investigated cases of corruption against former State Councilor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi,” the ministry said. “She was found guilty of committing corruption using her rank.”
Holders of political positions convicted of corruption can receive a maximum of 15 years in prison.
