Netflix has just unveiled the first fruits of its deal Wanted,, I kick my ass,, and Kingsman: The Secret Service together–creator Mark Millar. The legacy of Jupiter is a new live TV series based on Millar’s eponymous comics, which seems to create a generational conflict between a team of superheroes and their potentially less heroic children.
The legacy of Jupiter is Millar’s original concept, but seems to play on some classic images of superheroes. (Notice Josh Duhamel’s Utopian pulling a tractor by the hand in what could only be described as Superman̵
They are the first generation of superheroes. But as they pass the torch to their children, the tension increases – and the old rules no longer apply.
The legacy of Jupiter is only the first of several planned Netflix projects by Millar, the result of the purchase of the streamer from its publisher Millarworld in 2017. Along with The legacy of Jupiter, Netflix also plans to debut other Millar originals, covering everything from space bounty hunters to Spanish soap operas. With this series on Millar, Netflix seems ready to continue the recent trend of problems with Dad in superhero stories.
The legacy of Jupiter must be awarded on May 7, 2021.
