The Washington Post first reported on Thursday that Giuliani had been warned that he had been the target of a Russian campaign of influence last year. The newspaper, citing people familiar with the matter, also reported that One America News (OANN) had received a similar warning.

But the mail issued a correction on Saturday, saying it removed allegations that Giuliani and OANN had received such warnings.

“An earlier version of this story, published on Thursday, incorrectly reported that One America News had been warned by the FBI that it was the target of a Russian operation for influence,” the correction said.

“This version also says that the FBI gave a similar warning to Rudolf W. Giuliani, which he has since challenged. This version has been corrected to remove allegations that OAN and Giuliani received the warnings, “the newspaper said.

A spokesman for The Post had no further comment when reached by CNN.

The New York Times also reports on the FBI’s contact with Giuliani.

The Times had written that Giuliani had received an “official warning” from the FBI about Russian disinformation.

The newspaper released a correction said on Saturday that Giuliani had not received “so-called defensive briefings”.

“An earlier version of this article erroneously stated whether Rudolf W. Giuliani had received an official warning from the FBI about Russian disinformation. Mr Giuliani did not receive such a so-called defense briefing. ”

NBC, which also reported that Giuliani has received defensive instruction regarding the operation for Russian influence in 2019, made an adjustment on Saturday afternoon, saying that the FBI had prepared only a briefing.

The correction came after a source said the briefing was not held due to fears that it could complicate Giuliani’s investigation.

The Hill turned to the Post, Times and NBC for comment.

This week, the FBI raided Giuliani’s apartment and offices in New York and seized electronic devices as part of an investigation into his deals in Ukraine.
