NFL Classes Week 2: Tom Brady and Buccaneers get “A-“, Cowboys get “B +” for a wild win, Vikings get “F”

The Buccaneers 2020 season could quickly turn into a 0-2 crash, but Tom Brady made sure it didn’t happen on Sunday during the opening of the home in Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers quarterback, who has never started 0-2 in his entire 20-year career, got off to a hot start as Tampa Bay jumped to a quick 21-0 lead on their way to a 31-17 victory. There was a pre-match report that Brady was extremely focused on practice this week and this definitely seems to have turned into the pitch as the 43-year-old led the Bucs on two touchdown devices before the first quarter even ended.

The second touch was limited to a beautiful 23-yard pass from Brady to Mike Evans, who gave Tampa Bay a 1

4-0 lead.

Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians was probably excited to see some chemistry between Brady and Evans, especially after last week when the Tampa Bay star receiver was limited to just one catch for two yards. Brady turned to Evans four times in Week 1, and one of those goals became an interception, leading to a small dispute in Tampa. After losing to the Saints, Arians blamed Brady for the choice, and the day before he backed down and blamed Evans. Anyway, the chemistry between Evans and Brady just wasn’t there.

This week was a different story. Including that touchdown pass, Evans caught seven passes for 101 yards. Evans actually prepared the first touchdown for Tampa Day in the first quarter when he caught a 50-yard pass from Brady.

Although Brady’s numbers weren’t too impressive (23 out of 35, 217 yards, one TD), Arians was probably just excited to see the chemistry grow between Brady and his host. Brady could have put up even bigger numbers if it weren’t for a few missed passes, including a throw, which would have been an easy touch if caught by LeSean McCoy.

In fact, Arians was asked about McCoy’s downfall after the game, and based on his response, it seems that everyone in Tampa has left last week’s drama behind.

“Don’t worry, I’ll tell everyone it’s Tom’s fault,” joked Arians, asked about McCoy’s downfall.

Of course, there weren’t many things to blame for “Tom” this week. In addition to throws to Evans, Brady made several other big throws in the game, including a huge flea-flicker in the second quarter that went for a 36-yard win for Justin Watson.

The scary thing for the rest of the NFL is that the Buccaneers offense will probably get better and better every week as Brady continues to feel more comfortable.
