Nine zip codes in Oregon with the most cases of coronavirus per capita

Last week, Oregon reported far more coronavirus cases than at any time since the pandemic began, breaking the record set earlier this month when communities from East Portland to East Oregon saw many new infections.

The Oregon Health Authority reported 2,642 confirmed or suspected infections for the week ending Sunday. This surpassed the past 2,327 of the previous week and easily surpassed the record set earlier in the month at 2,418.

The growing number of cases in Oregon is obvious in real time. But the weekly quantification provides a new context for these figures, showing that cases are constantly spreading far and wide, not just in a handful of communities.

Areas such as Toalatin, Prineville, Ashland, Staten, North Bend, Springfield and Central Point have registered more cases than usual, while other bells remain stable.

Oregonian / OregonLive tracks weekly changes in state coronavirus data, reporting by zip code the areas with the largest weekly changes.

Our analysis highlights the areas with the most new cases in terms of population in the area, as well as the postal codes with the most new cases in general. This week, we also added a section tracking the largest percentage increase from the previous total for zip codes, which added at least 1

0 cases.
