Nintendo Life eShop chooses – April 2021 – Feature

eShop chooses - Nintendo Life

April was quite a stellar month for new games in the eShop, aided in part by the fantastic presentation of Nintendo Indie World, which launched some great games right after the show.

These awards aim to celebrate the best of Nintendo’s digital store by giving a little love and attention to games that can so easily be missed in Switch’s ever-growing library.

So, let’s get started. Here are the best eShop switching games from April 2021!

Honorary mentions:

While these titles didn’t make our three best this month, it̵

7;s still worth checking them out:

Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack (Switch eShop)Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack (Switch eShop)

Release date: April 22, 2021 (USA) / April 22, 2021 (Great Britain / EU)

We cheat a little with our choice for third place this month; Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack is a package of three games in one, which probably makes it an easy choice for this list.

Each of the included games offers a rich content and a pleasant story, and although the slower mood of the series is not for everyone, we would encourage anyone interested in a craft RPG to give it a shot. Although the value of the trilogy package is one of the strengths of this particular version, you can always choose to choose one of the three included games on your own to see if it’s for you or not.

FEZ (switch to eShop)FEZ (switch to eShop)

Publisher: Polytron / Developer: Polytron

Release date: April 14, 2021 (USA) / April 14, 2021 (Great Britain / EU)

Returning to the normality of single, digital-only temptations, FEZ ranks second this month.

FEZ is a fun, challenging puzzle platformer, suitable for exploding with original ideas and unique wrinkles in the gameplay. His puzzles from time to time bend reality and even penetrate our world, but apart from a few selected mega-challenges, they never deviate into the category of being too dumb or unfair.

With fantastic basic mechanics, lots of charm and perfectly balanced brain teasers, this is an easy recommendation. If you’ve never tried FEZ before, be sure to download it and don’t look at it too much before – You do not want the game to be spoiled before you play.

PAC-MAN 99 (Switch eShop)PAC-MAN 99 (Switch eShop)

Publisher: Bandai Namco / Developer: Bandai Namco

Release date: April 7, 2021 (USA) / April 8, 2021 (Great Britain / EU)

However, the first place is the latest in the growing collection of strange combat kingdoms of Switch, PAC-MAN 99.

Just like Tetris 99 and the lost but not forgotten Super Mario Bros. 35, PAC-MAN 99 takes a series that we’ve all played to death and somehow manages to make it feel fresh and exciting again. We will say that the competitive nature and fast-paced action of these “99” war kingdoms make their basic gameplay more addictive than ever and it is difficult to complain about the low and low price of free – as long as you have a Switch Online subscription.

Did you like Tetris 99? You will also like this. Download it and enjoy.

How do we decide that our eShop chooses the three best: As we get to the end of each month, Nintendo Life employees vote on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as the title of the Nintendo Switch eShop for digital technology only this particular month and must be reviewed in Nintendo Life; we choose the qualifying games based on their results.

Employees are then asked to vote on three games that they think deserve to sit right at the top of this list; the first choice gets 3 points, the second choice gets 2 points and the third choice gets 1 point. These votes are then collected to create a list of the top three, with the overall winner taking the grand prize for this month.
