It is reported that the new Switch, which unnamed sources will probably launch for the holiday period 2021, will have a 7-inch OLED display made by Samsung. This would make it larger than the 6.2-inch display of the standard Switch and much larger than the 5.5-inch Switch Lite.
Both existing Switch consoles use LCD displays, so an OLED upgrade would mean better contrast thanks to deeper blacks. The Boomberg report also notes that the new Switch, when in a docking station, can display 4K on a TV. This is a change from previous reports in which industry insiders said that the new Switch will be available with a 4K display.
Switch is the second most successful console of all time on Nintendo, ahead of NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube and (especially) Wii U. Since 2017, more than 79 million units have been sold, about 13.5 million of which are Switch Lite consoles . The only Nintendo console to perform better is the Wii, which has sold more than $ 100 million in lifetime sales.
By comparison, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have sold 114 million and about 48 million units, respectively, since their release in 2013.
Although Nintendo was pressed for its next update to the Switch, despite rumors of a 4K Switch circulating for more than a year, it simply highlighted what the next few months of software would look like. The connection is leading in the charge, scomes in July. (June 25) and (April 30) are also coming until the end of the year .
