No Man’s Sky’s second expedition looks like a challenge



Last month, spacecraft lifted into the sky launched their new expedition regime. However, the expeditions are adventures with a limited period of time, so the first ended, and the second, called Beachhead, starts today. However, I definitely did not land on the beach. This second expedition stopped me and everyone else, a long and frozen walk from our ships. This should be interesting.

If you missed their presentation, No Man’s Sky expeditions are a bit like what we’re all used to calling “seasons” content in other games. You see, they are limited in time and have profits that you can earn by meeting goals. I still want to liken them to the Path Of Exile Challenge Leagues because they force you to start a new character with certain limitations.

I joined the first Expedition of No Man̵

7;s Sky last month and found it a good idea. Each player starts at the same point in the universe, which means that I loaded up, surrounded by a handful of other players with fresh characters, while we all decided how to get our broken ships out of an unknown planet. The goals of the expedition seemed like pretty basic things, although each “phase” of the expedition came with more difficult goals.

I loaded the second expedition out of curiosity and let me tell you that this is not a walk in the park. The “Beachhead” expedition loaded everyone on the frozen, barren Tibertant Alpha. I happened to be a 12-minute walk from my ship carrying a damaged scanner, and I suspect others will find themselves in a similar situation. Getting to my ship itself will be a bigger challenge than in the first season.

Well, this adventure will surely start with composure.

The objectives for each of the five phases of the expedition seemed to have a more specific theme for them as well, while the introductory expedition felt a bit like a lesson. The first phase of the voyage asks you, among other things, to reach your ship and leave the planet. After that, however, you are encouraged to do a little research. The third phase includes goals for visiting planets with different climates, while the fourth phase involves learning words in the language of other species. By phase five, the targets themselves are actually encrypted and illegible.

Beachhead, as its name suggests, definitely seems more of a challenge than the original expedition. Not only that, but you only have two weeks to play it, according to the choice of game mode when starting a new save. I think a nice challenge in time sounds great.
