NVIDIA Shield TV now supports PS5 and Xbox Series X / S controllers

NVIDIA’s Shield TV, the company’s powerful plug-in, can now be paired with the Xbox Series X and S gamepads, as well as the DualSense controller on the PlayStation 5. The long-awaited feature comes as part of the Shield 8.2.2 software update, which also includes support for home automation systems Control 4, as well as streaming applications Discovery + and Noggin. Connecting the controllers works as you expect: Turn on the Bluetooth detection mode on the Shield, and then press the pairing button on your Xbox controller or the PlayStation and Share / Clip buttons on the DualSense.

Surprisingly, it took so long for NVIDIA to add support for these new gamepads, given that they already support PC pairing. But this is good news for anyone who has one of the next generation of systems and also wants to participate in NVIDIA̵

In addition to the usual bug fixes, NVIDIA says the Shield update also adds a security patch for Android in December 2020, as well as better support for IR volume for the Shield remote with Denon receivers.
