OnePlus co-founder Carl Pay has confirmed that he is leaving the company

Carl Pay is in many ways the public face of OnePlus, along with co-founder Pete Lau. But today, after seven years at the company, Pei announced that she was leaving to blog on the OnePlus community forums. It is not clear if there is any specific reason for his departure.

Rumor has it that Pay is moving on to a new venture. It is not unreasonable to assume that he may do so in the end, but Pei’s own post does not suggest that this is the main reason he left:

I have never regretted trusting my gut and this time it is no different. In recent years, the OnePlus has been my exclusive focus and everything else has had to take up a back seat. I look forward to spending some time decompressing and catching up with family and friends. And then follow my heart to the next. “

Other unfounded rumors suggest that there was a discrepancy with Lau, but Pei thanked him in his post:

7;m always grateful to Pete for taking a chance on this child with no higher education, nothing but his name but a dream. Trust, mentoring and camaraderie will never be forgotten. Thanks for the opportunity for life.

Pei helped launch OnePlus when he was 24 and was one of the main players in building the company’s brand, recently leading the launch of the Nord line.

Aside from corporate gossip, I’m looking forward to seeing where Pey ends up, but I hope he needs that time to decompress it. We could all use it after this year.
