Panic in the Sky: Atlanta Flight Sinks Nearly 30,000 Feet

1; A Delta flight filled with Atlanta passengers sank nearly 30,000 feet.

Passengers describe panic as they grab. for oxygen masks aboard a Delta flight.

The photos show the masks hanging from the ceiling during a quick descent.

Flight Aware shows how flight 2353 to Fort Lauderdale departed instead of Tampa.

According to the website, the aircraft descended from 39,000 feet to 10,000 in less than seven minutes.

"Air masks, oxygen masks fell from the top of the plane. Chaos breeds among the passengers," says passenger Harris Deoskin.

Devoskin snapped photos during what he described as panic aboard.

"One flight attendant, in my opinion, grabbed an intercom and just repeatedly said over the intercom:" Don't panic. Don't panic. panic, "but obviously it's a hurry, so the passengers around me were hyperventilating, breathing really hard," Devoskin says.

Another passenger said he was so scared of what happened, told his family that he loved them and hugged his son.

"Life is fragile. There were a scary 60 to 90 seconds where we really didn't know what was going on. At 15,000 feet in the air, it's a scary moment for sure, "Devoskin said.

The plane sits at Tampa International on Wednesday night, where mechanics work to find out what went wrong.

Some passengers book other flights [19659006] Delta Air Lines said it apologized to everyone on this plane and said the plane had diverted to Tampa "with an abundance of caution."
