We haven’t heard from Playdate, Panic’s little handheld game, in a long time, but that will change. On June 8, 2021, the company will debut a 15-minute video demonstration on its YouTube channel, which will give much more details about the device, a look at the games included in it, and how exactly to get to it.
Panic, however, also announced some bad news; Playdate is now priced at $ 179 instead of the original $ 149. The company says this is largely due to the global shortage of electronic parts, caused in part by the pandemic. However, to compensate for the price difference, Panic will include double the number of “Season 1” games that come bundled with the device (24 instead of 1
According to the company, the video demonstration of the Playdate Update will be a pre-recorded 15-minute presentation, which will include an update of pre-order information, a glimpse into the composition of the games from the first season and “much more”. However, we have been told that pre-orders will not start live immediately after the video demonstration.
“We’ve all worked quietly non-stop to put all the complex pieces of the Playdate puzzle in place, and we’re finally ready to show you what we’ve done,” Cable Sasser, Panic co-founder, said in a press release.
