Surprisingly, that even has to be said, but Chief Defender Patrick Mahomes will not play on Sunday night against the Packers.
When Mahomes suffered a knee injury eight days ago against the Broncos, it emerged that he would miss many games and even had concerns that he might miss the season. But after he has limited training this week, some have wondered if he could play Sunday night.
Chiefs coach Andy Reed confirmed today that there is no chance: Mahomes is officially off.
Matt Moore will get a start for the Chiefs. He has completed 10 of 19 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers since Mahomes dropped against the Broncos, and the Chiefs will hope he can play so well against the Packers. There is obviously no chance of Moore playing as well as Mahomes, but he can keep the fort well enough to give the Chiefs a chance.
Kyle Schurmour will serve as Moore's reserve.
