“We thought the election season would be the perfect time to take hunger off the table for at least one meal while people were at the polls,” Rosenthal said in a statement.
With record turnout expected this election year, Phil Rosenthal and the Rosenthal Family Foundation have launched Someone to Feed the People, a national fundraising campaign for organizations providing food to voters waiting in long lines.
In front of Someone feed Phil host, who returns to Netflix with the fourth season of his food and travel show (October 30), he shared in a statement provided to The Hollywood reporter the spark for his inclusive and non-partisan campaign.
“Food is not only a great unifier; it is also something that many of us take for granted. We thought the election season would be the perfect time to take the hunger off the table for at least one meal while people are at the polls,”
The Rosenthal Family Foundation is raising up to $ 250,000 for the campaign, which welcomes anyone who joins who is “passionate about eating.”
Organizations already receiving support through the campaign include the World Central Cuisine and Pizza at Jose Andres’ polling stations, and actions include mobilizing food trucks and delivering food on demand to communities across the country.
