We moderate comments. Our goal is to provide significant commentary to a general readership. Through material screening, we provide a space where readers can share smart and informed comments that enhance the quality of our news and information.
While most comments will be published if they are thematic and not abusive, moderating decisions are subjective. We will make them as carefully and consistently as possible. Due to the volume of reader comments, we are unable to review individual moderation decisions with readers.

We follow the same taste standards as our daily newspaper. A few things we will not tolerate: personal attacks, indecency, vulgarity, obscene legitimacy (including expletives and letters, followed by dashes), commercial promotion, presentation, inconsistency, proselytizing, and CONSIDERATION. Do not include URLs on websites.
We do not edit comments. They are approved or deleted. We reserve the right to edit a comment that is cited or removed in an article. In this case, we can correct the spelling and punctuation.
We welcome strong opinions and criticisms of our work, but we do not want the comments to be blunted when discussing our policies and will be moderated accordingly.
