Lana’s planet is a beautiful new cinematic puzzle adventure game from the Swedish indie studio, with desire. It was announced during the opening event of the Summer Games Fest on Thursday.
The story follows Lana and her animal companion as they embark on a mission to save Lana’s sister. Their planet – once a place in perfect harmony between man and nature – has fallen into chaos and must now withstand an impersonal army.
Interestingly, however, this game is not explicitly related to war or conflict. “This is a story about a living, beautiful planet and the journey to preserve it,”
The world in Planet of Lana looks stunning. From what we saw in the trailer, the game boasts stunning hand-painted graphics and a Miyazaki-style world.
The release said the visual style “combines hand-painted artwork, intricate parallax layers and fine use of 3D graphics to give the look of an interactive picture.” The game will run on high-end PCs and Xbox Series X with natural 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, “allowing her amazing work of art to come to life.”
In the trailer we see a young woman, Lana, embracing a cute and chirping black creature. The opening scene is calm. In the background is a large moon, a light breeze blowing on the tall grass, and in the background birds are heard.
As the camera moves away, however, we see dozens of rockets appear to be rapidly approaching the planet. It is a grim but compelling juxtaposition that introduces us to its new world.
Lana’s planet is expected to be released in 2022 for PC Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X in late 2022.
