Pocket Casts is making a change in its recently announced subscription plans after a backlash from users who are angry about losing access to applications they have previously paid for.
The company now provides free access to Pocket Casts Plus, its first-class subscription service for anyone who has paid for the web or desktop applications of the service before pricing changes. Previously, these apps were available for purchase and use at a one-time $ 9 fee, but now require a $ 0.99 monthly fee or $ 10 a year to use.
Before Tuesday, Pocket Casts proudly advertised its free subscription offering. "No monthly subscriptions or freemium hoo-ha," one of his promotional messages reads "We'll ask for $ 9. Only once. "However, it seems that the reality of launching an ongoing cloud service has already caught up with the company.
When it first announced the changes, Pocket Casts had offered users three years of access to a premium subscription service if they had paid for those apps under the old one model to buy. In his blog, Pocket Casts CEO Owen Grover notes that the company is trying to make this change "as soon as possible. "When I was checking out my own Windows 1
Apart from changes in access to its web and desktop applications, Grover does not mention discounts on any of its other initiatives, which include creating mobile applications completely free of charge and offers 10GB of cloud storage so you can upload your own audio and premium content video content.
It may not be haha, but Pocket Casts is definitely a free-to-use service.
