According to a report, Pope Francis’ personal physician died of complications from COVID-19.
Fabrizio Socorsi, 78, was admitted to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital for a previous health issue on December 26, Catholic News reported.
However, the cause of his death was complications from a coronavirus, the newspaper reported, citing the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano.
It is not clear when he last had direct contact with the pontiff.
Francis had trapped Socorse and his GP in 2015.
The pope announced on Saturday that he plans to make COVID-19 next week as part of a vaccination program at the Vatican.
“I believe that everyone should ethically take the vaccine,”
